Four-Car Pile Up On Carlsbad Blvd.

by The Editors on June 5, 2011

201106 Beachfest G10 11

As if we needed another reminder that all the crosswalks on the beach section of Carlsbad Boulevard need flashing lights, we have this four-car pile up near the corner of Carlsbad Blvd. and Juniper Ave. at 5:15 PM, June 5, 2011. The Carlsbad Fire Department and Police were on the scene, but luckily, no one was injured. . . this time.

COOL !!!!
Another traffic accident due to the pedestrian crosswalk situation. When will the city or CALTRANS put flashing LED’s in the crosswalk like other PCH communities. I am excited that we will have these safety precautions. EXCEPT for the fact that some pedestrian will have to lose their LIFE in order to get this to happen. I will be sad for the pedestrian….. I hope it isn’t a family with children that get MOWED down by somebody not paying attention (PDA etc). That would be a BIG tribute memorial they would have to build to make up for the guilt of negligence. Come on CARLSBAD ! !!! especially with the PAY FOR PARKING @ TAMARACK….. There are A LOT more people parking in the streets above the bluff and walking down to the beach VIA the crosswalk. i believe this summer will be the summer…….. it’s like forecasting a earthquake. when i comes we don’t know ( but soon) and when it happens- it will be horrific and a tragedy. These other cities are proactive… why isn’t cbad? There is a giant new building going in @ the safety center. How about kicking down some landscaping budget and put some LIFE SAVING flashing LED’s in the crosswalk?? wwbd? ( what would BUD do?).
the tourist that spend money in carlsbad come here for the beach. It wouldn’t be productive to possibly have them get killed in a pedestrian crosswalk ( because they are not seasoned beach section crosswalk survivors). I’snt that what carlsbad is all about? attractions and events to draw people to our city to enjoy our beaches and spend money in our businesses.,(revenue..take note city)
