(Carlsbad, CA – May 27, 2014) Encinitas Cartoonist Jim Whiting has created the signature art for Vigilucci’s Beach Bocce World Championship XXXIV, which benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.

“Each year, we select a different local artist to come up with a unique piece for the championship,” stated Co-Founder John Manson. “We were absolutely thrilled that Jim agreed to donate his time and talent. The fun cartoon he designed is representative of the event, and will be the centerpiece of the commemorative poster, t-shirt, and all promotional materials.”

“When I was approached by John Manson to create the original artwork for the World Championship, I was a little hesitant,” said Jim. “But then I saw the talent level of the artists who have come before me – people like Luann cartoonist Greg Evans – well quite frankly, I am honored to be a part of this elite group!”

Scheduled to be held July 12 at Dog Beach in Del Mar, Vigilucci’s Beach Bocce World Championship sold out in record time – 13 minutes! Over 1000 players and spectators are expected to attend.
