It was crime time this morning (Monday, February 9, 2015) in Carlsbadistan as convicted felon Abraham Ledesma-Gomez, 29, allegedly ran from the Carlsbad Inn and into the Carlsbad Best Western Lodge at the corner of Carlsbad Boulevard and Pine Ave and took two employees hostage with a steak knife, according to story on

As officers were establishing a perimeter around the motel, he allegedly threatened to kill the employees if they made any noise. . . After a time, he exited the office without the knife and was arrested at gunpoint after a struggle, police said. During the arrest he yelled at officers to shoot him.

But they did not. Gomez, who was out on state parole at the time, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and a parole violation. Apparently, he longed for the prison life.
