Carlsbad Woman Crashes on I-5

by The Editors on June 16, 2007

Lisa Scobel, 42, of Carlsbad (a woman who police say was involved in “three previous hit-and-run collisions) suffered major injuries after crashing on I-5 just north of Leucadia Blvd at 1:14 PM Friday June 15:

Scobel was driving a 2005 BMW sport utility vehicle north on the freeway at 1:14 p.m. when she changed lanes at a high rate of speed to avoid hitting the rear of a slow moving truck, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Walker. . . The BMW hit a 2006 Lexus coupe driven by Paul Scott Hardy, 56, also of Carlsbad, and flipped over onto the right shoulder and Scobel partially ejected, Walker said.

Scobel was air lifted to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla with major injuries. She is also under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.
