When Carlsbadistan police tried to stop Al Breon McKiernan, at 1 AM on January 25, 2009 for drunk driving he tried to escape into the lagoon. When an Oceanside police officer sent a police dog in after him, McKiernan reportedly tried to drown the dog. Now, Vista Superior Court Judge Timothy Casserly has sentenced McKeirnan to seven years and four months in prison according to a story on San Diego 6.

McKiernan’s blood-alcohol level was measured at .14 percent two hours after the crash. A sheriff’s crime lab specialist calculated the defendant’s blood-alcohol level to be .16 percent at the time of the collision. . . When McKiernan was arrested, he had his brother’s driver’s license in his pocket, leading authorities to believe that his name was Lavar Toosweet McKiernan.

Sounds like McKiernan is going to be off the road for a while.
