Paradise Pizza Sends Robber To Hospital

by The Editors on February 17, 2011

Paradise PizzaThe funniest part of this whole story is that 22-year-old accused robber Thomas Ruth, of La Costa, seems to have formulated a plan. A bad plan, yes. But obviously one that took forethought. And it resulted in him being sent to the hospital.

On Wednesday night (February 16, 2011, according to a story on 10news.com, Ruth gathered a canister of pepper spray, a BB gun, and a ski mask and decided to use these props to rob Carlsbadistan’s Paradise Pizza at 2564 State St. Things didn’t go well for the bumbling would-be robber.

Employees . . . subdued alleged robber Thomas Ruth after being sprayed with the pepper spray. . . wrestling his weapon away from him, according to Carlsbad police Sgt. Jeff Chapman. . . .They held him until officers arrived and took him to Tri-City Medical Center to treat a head injury he apparently sustained in the scuffle.
