Tickets are now on sale for the one (partial) day each year when Legoland is arguably worth the price of admission. April 23, 2016 is Carlsbad Day at Legoland thanks to the Carlsbad Educational Foundation. This means that if you buy tickets in advance from the Carlsbad Education Foundation you can get a partial day (1 PM to 8 PM) entry to Legoland for $35. In addition, “a percentage of ticket sales” will help fund “enriching STEM programs” (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) that the Carlsbad Unified School District is apparently unable to provide to the students of our fair city.
In other words, if you’d like to help the Carlsbad Educational Foundation help the students of a school district that can’t figure out how to provide the education Carlsbad kids deserve and visit an overpriced theme park for a reasonable price then please, Click here to purchase your tickets.

Ever wondered what’s behind those massive berms on the North side of Palomar Airport Road just northeast of the Carlsbad Costco parking lot? Well, it’s a theme park called Legoland and thanks to exorbitantly expensive tickets few of us have ever seen what’s behind those berms up close and personal.
But do not fear! Our time in the dark is nearly over. The Carlsbad Education Foundation has a solution. Together with Legoland they are presenting the annual Celebrate Carlsbad Day on April 25, 2015. On that day (beginning at 1 PM and not when the park opens) park guests (who purchase tickets ahead of time) will be able to explore Legoland for the much more realistic price of $25 per person.
LEGOLAND will donate a portion of the event proceeds to the Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF) to support district-wide science initiatives for students at all Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD) Schools. LEGOLAND will also donate hundreds of free field trip admission tickets to Carlsbad students for hands-on science field trips.
Get Legoland tickets at a reasonable price and help Carlsbad Schools at the same time? That’s a win-win for everyone. On September 20, 2014 Legoland California will be remembering all the work Carlsbad Firefighters did this year with a Firefighter Appreciate Day.
Guests can board a real fire engine and ambulance, try on firefighter gear, race against firefighters at Fun Town Police and Fire Academy and meet Sparky the fire dog. An appreciation rally at 11 a.m. kicks off the Big Test Show. Tickets, which include a full day admission to LEGOLAND, are $35 per person with a portion of each ticket donated to the foundation. Tickets are valid Sept. 20 and can be purchased only through the Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation.

Tomorrow (Thursday, June 13, 2013) members of the Rebel Legion and 501st Legion will unveil the largest Lego model ever built when they present the Lego Star Wars X-wing star fighter at our very own Legoland California theme park.
The massive replica took 32 Master Model Builders, five million LEGO bricks and more than 17,000 hours to complete. The LEGO model weighs nearly 46,000 pounds, stands 11 feet tall and 43 feet long, with a wingspan of 44 feet.
The X-wing will debut at 9 AM. But don’t think you’ll get to see it for free. No, no, no. It will only be up for viewing by people who’ve spent a large chunk of their life savings to buy tickets to the park. And even then you’ll have to wait until after 2 PM because “Pass Members” get an exclusive look at it from 10 AM to 2 PM. For the official word from Legoland follow the jump. [click to continue…]

The Legoland Hotel in Windsor, England had to be evacuated on Saturday April 13, 2013 after a lifeguard at the pool noticed cracks in the pools “suspended ceiling,” according to a story in The Royal Borough Observer.
The hotel was immediately evacuated while firefighters and Legoland’s maintenance team investigated the damage, with guests allowed back into the hotel at 6.30pm. . . Some of the panels fell into the pool after the area had been safely evacuated.
Luckily, the pool at the Carlsbad Legoland Hotel doesn’t have such a ceiling.

On Friday, April 5, 2013 the Legoland Hotel will officially kick opens its doors to the public and Legoland California General Manager Peter Ronchetti and Hotel General Manager Frank Idris will join a cast of characters at a ceremony officially opening the Hotel.
The three-story, 250 room hotel immerses guests in a creative LEGO® world and every room is themed after one of three popular LEGO toy lines in the Park: pirate, adventure or kingdom. Children have their own sleeping area in every room complete with bunk beds, a trundle bed and their own TV. A spectacular entrance is guarded by a smoke-breathing LEGO dragon created out of 400,000 LEGO bricks. Each room has at least eight LEGO models and theming can be found on the walls, carpeting and bedding. There are more than 3,500 LEGO models throughout the Hotel using more than three million LEGO bricks. Interactive features include a Castle Play area, a talking and spraying dragon on the patio, LEGO play pits in the reception area and a treasure hunt inside the rooms where younger guests search for clues then open a locked safe to find LEGO treasure! Guests staying at LEGOLAND Hotel have exclusive early access to LEGOLAND California.

Hey, Carlsbadistan! Did you know that you can Celebrate Carlsbad Day at Legoland Callifornia for only $20 on April 27, 2013? Did you know that by doing this you’ll also help the Carlsbad Education Foundation a little? Oh, but don’t think you’re going to “spend the day at Legoland.” Nope. As usual, Legoland says the Celebrate Carlsbad Day tickets are only good from 1 PM to 8 PM. That’s right, the turnstiles open at 9 AM, but Celebrate Carlsbad Day ticket holders won’t get in until 1 PM. And what’s more, only “a portion of the proceeds” from these special ticket sales actually goes to the Carlsbad Education Foundation.
So hey, use this as an opportunity to visit Legoland at a moderately affordable price, but don’t think Legoland is doing any huge favors because it really is the least they could do.

Residents of Florida not have it much better than we do when it comes to buying a season pass at their local Florida Legoland, according to a story in the Tampa Bay Times.
Legoland Florida has dropped the price of annual pass by $30 for Florida residents. The ticket, which has no black-out dates, now sells for $99 from the previous $129, which is what out-of-staters still have to pay. . . The pass, found on the Winter Haven theme park’s website, legoland.com, includes admission to its new water park and free parking. There are also special events at the park for Halloween, Christmas and Fourth of July.
Meanwhile, here in Carlsbadistan a season pass still costs $129 and DOES NOT include parking nor the water park. Thanks, Merlin. Way to stick it to the California locals.

The Legoland Hotel, (Legoland’s most recent ploy to snag every single tourist dollar that comes to Carlsbadistan) is nearing completion and the company has released photos so all of us who live here can see what we’re missing by not really needing to stay at the Legoland Hotel.
Opening the summer of 2013, LEGOLAND hotel is now accepting reservations for guests wanting to be among the first to book a stay at the 250 room hotel. Vacation packages for stays starting May 2013 include four 2-day resort hopper tickets for entrance into LEGOLAND California, SEA LIFE® Aquarium and LEGOLAND® Water Park; breakfast for up to four people and early admission into the family theme park on both days.

Thanks to a special deal created through a partnership between the Carlsbad Education Foundation and Legoland called Celebrate Carlsbad Day local families will have the chance to purchase advance tickets to visit Legoland on April 28, 2012 (after 1 PM) for $20 (a price locals should get all year).
The annual Celebrate Carlsbad Day at LEGOLAND® will be held on Saturday, April 28th. Specially-priced $20 LEGOLAND tickets include admission starting at 1:00 pm with park hours extended to 9:00 and a special fireworks display at 8:30. SEA LIFE Aquarium tickets are also available at a discounted rate of $6 each. Parking is $12 at the gate. . . Live student performances and donor recognition will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 on a stage in Miniland USA. LEGOLAND will donate a portion of the event proceeds to the Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF) to support district-wide science initiatives at Carlsbad schools.
Yes, it’s amazing to us that Legoland won’t allow a full day in the park for $20, but we guess the Carlsbad Education Foundation has to take what they can get. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling the CEF office at (760) 929-1555 or by emailing Patty@CarlsbadEd.org
