The Carlsbad Community Theatre<\/a><\/strong> is looking for a few good people (ages 8 to adult) to act, dance, and sing in their Summer 2011 production of the Charlie Smalls and William F. Brown’s The Wiz<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Auditions will be held Wednesday May 18th From 5pm \u2013 9pm at Valley Middle School<\/a><\/strong> 1645 Magnolia Ave.<\/a><\/strong> Room 101 in Carlsbad
\nWalkups welcome, appointments preferred. Bring Sheet music in correct key for a one minute or less song (no tape recorders or a capella) Bring 3 non-returnable head shots and resumes. . . Be prepared to stay for dance at the audition. Callbacks \u2013 Friday May 20th starting at 5pm.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This show has lots of parts for singers, dancers and actors ages 8 \u2013 Adult. The Wiz is our adult\/youth show. Actors under 17 must have taken a Carlsbad Community Theatre workshop or performed in a show to be eligible to audition. We are offering a workshop on May 11th and details will be announced shortly on our web site for that workshop.<\/p>\n

Production dates Aug. 5th \u2013 7th at the Cultural Arts Center in Calrsbad
\nRehearsals start June 13th. Most are evenings and some Saturdays
\nNo Fee to audition
\n$200 production fee for actors 16 and under, if cast.
\nNo production fee for those 17 and up.<\/p>\n

The Wiz is based on \u201cThe Wonderful Wizard of Oz\u2019 by L. Frank Baum, and is one of Broadway\u2019s\u2019 most popular contemporary musicals. This grand new version, set in the present, is a multi-cultural journey that follows this well-known and beloved story of courage, brains, heart and home.
\nThe Wiz won 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score.<\/p>\n
