\"Ann<\/a>The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad<\/a><\/strong> are happy to announce that longtime community volunteers and advocates Ann<\/strong> and David Kulchin<\/strong> will serve as Honorary Chairs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad\u2019s 33rd Annual \u201cThe Greatest Club on Earth!\u201d Gala.<\/p>\n

Dave Kulchin joined the Club\u2019s Board of Directors in June 1999. He wore many hats during his tenure, including Board President. He currently holds the highest honor \u2013 Lifetime Honorary Board Member \u2013 as a result of his significant contributions to the Club. He and his wife, former Carlsbad Councilmember and Mayor pro-tem Ann Kulchin, raised close to $1.2 million to build a new branch of the Boys & Girls Club in Bressi Ranch. This state-of-the-art Clubhouse opened in 2011.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Annual Gala<\/p>\n

(Carlsbad, CA, August 19, 2014) \u2013 Ann and David Kulchin, longtime community volunteers and advocates, have been named Honorary Chairs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad\u2019s 33rd Annual \u201cThe Greatest Club on Earth!\u201d Gala.<\/p>\n

Dave Kulchin joined the Club\u2019s Board of Directors in June 1999. He wore many hats during his tenure, including Board President. He currently holds the highest honor \u2013 Lifetime Honorary Board Member \u2013 as a result of his significant contributions to the Club. He and his wife, former Carlsbad Councilmember and Mayor pro-tem Ann Kulchin, raised close to $1.2 million to build a new branch of the Boys & Girls Club in Bressi Ranch. This state-of-the-art Clubhouse opened in 2011.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel the purpose of life is to be useful, compassionate, and make a difference in the lives of others,\u201d says David.<\/p>\n

In addition to his activities with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, David was recently named the Carlsbad Citizen of the Year for 2013, and has served countless hours in other nonprofits, including Scripps Memorial Hospital, Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary, Hospice of the North Coast, and the Encinitas YMCA. He also serves on the board of the Leucadia Wastewater District, an elective office, since 1996.<\/p>\n

Not to be outdone, Ann Kulchin recently stepped down from her city council position in December of 2012 after 32 years of service. \u201cThey say the time to go is when people don\u2019t want you to go,\u201d recalls Ann. \u201cI am being hugged by strangers telling me I\u2019ve done a good job.\u201d Carlsbad\u2019s Mayor Matt Hall summed it up when he said that Ann is a very unique individual. Her strengths are her ability to listen to the community, her great sense of teamwork, and the way she can relate to all people. Ann loved helping to build our city; and views Carlsbad as her extended family.<\/p>\n

Ann and Dave have called Carlsbad home since 1978, and together they have three grown children and eight grandchildren.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so pleased to honor this couple who have given so much of themselves not only to the Boys & Girls Club, but to the Carlsbad community,\u201d said Gala Co-Chairs Barbi Nelson and Viola Wheelihan. \u201cThis recognition has been a long time in the making, and is way overdue!\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cGreatest Club on Earth!\u201d Gala will take place at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa on Saturday, October 25, at 6:00 pm. More than 500 business and community leaders are expected to attend this social event of the season complete with lavish cuisine, lively entertainment provided by Wayne Foster Entertainment, and exhilarating silent, platinum, and live auctions.
