And when we say music, we mean capital &#8220;M&#8221; Music. As they say this is &#8220;adventurous music by the beach&#8221; for sure.<br \/>\nThis year&#8217;s run will include the music of <strong>David Lang<\/strong>, <strong>Dawn of Midi<\/strong>, <strong>Steven Schick<\/strong> conducts <strong>Renga<\/strong>, <strong>Wu Man<\/strong> and <strong>Son de San Diego<\/strong>, <strong>Art of Elan<\/strong> with <strong>Susan Narucki<\/strong>, <strong>Sacra\/Profana<\/strong>, <strong>USC Thornton Edge<\/strong>, <strong>Donald Crockett<\/strong>, <strong>Sean Friar<\/strong>, <strong>Matt McBane<\/strong>, <strong>Trouble in the Wind<\/strong>, <strong>The Red Fox Tails<\/strong>, and more. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Festival will include ticketed Main Stage Concerts all three days, a free Village Walk on Saturday, September 20, and free concerts in Magee Park on Sunday, September 21. Running from Friday\u00ad &#8211; Sunday, September 19 &#8211; \u00ad21, 2014, the Festival will include ticketed MainStage Concerts all 3 days, a free Village Walk on Saturday, and free Concerts in the Park in Magee Park on Sunday. All events are curated by Festival Founder and Director, <strong>Matt McBane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights of this year\u2019s ticketed MainStage Concerts include<\/strong>:<br \/>\nPulitzer \u00adprize winning composer and Bang on a Can co-\u00adfounder, David Lang will be in residence and his music will be performed throughout the Festival. The New Yorker states, \u201cLang, once a post minimalist infant terrible, has solidified his standing as an American master,\u201d and CMF is proud to be presenting 3 US premieres of his work. Brooklyn based piano trio Dawn of Midi will perform their genre\u00ad-defying album \u201cDysnomia.\u201d Steven Schick will conduct Renga, the new San Diego\u00ad based chamber orchestra he confounded, in the US premiere of David<\/p>\n<p>Lang\u2019s \u201cdarker\u201d an hour\u00ad-long piece for 12 solo strings. Art of Elan will be joined by soprano Susan Narucki for a concert of music by David Lang, his influences and his students, including the US premiere of \u201cark luggage\u201d for soprano and string quartet. Sacra\/Profana will give a performance of new music for choir including a world premiere by Festival Director Matt McBane and music by David Lang.
