{"id":2230,"date":"2008-04-02T13:17:46","date_gmt":"2008-04-02T20:17:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=2230"},"modified":"2008-04-02T13:17:54","modified_gmt":"2008-04-02T20:17:54","slug":"tamarack-surf-beach-on-8-a-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=2230","title":{"rendered":"Tamarack Surf Beach On $8 A Day?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/tam-park0408.jpg\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/tam-park0408.jpg','popup','width=1000,height=796,scrollbars=no,resizable=yes,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=yes,left=0,top=0');return false\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/tam-park0408-tm.jpg\" height=\"342\" width=\"430\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"4\" vspace=\"4\" alt=\"Tam Park0408\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday April 10, 2008 the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastal.ca.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">California Coastal Commission<\/a><\/strong> was scheduled to hold a hearing (and vote) regarding the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parks.ca.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">The California Department of Parks and Recreation<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s request to install a &#8220;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/documents.coastal.ca.gov\/reports\/2008\/4\/Th19c-4-2008.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">mechanical fee collection device at Carlsbad State Beach Parking lot<\/a><\/strong>&#8221; at <strong>Tamarack Surf Beach<\/strong> where State Parks hopes to charge a flat rat of $8.00 per day to park in the lot. The hearing has now been <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastal.ca.gov\/mtgcurr.html\" target=\"_blank\">postponed<\/a><\/strong> according to the Coastal Commission .<\/p>\n<p>We mentioned this the first time on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/\/?p=1517\" target=\"_blank\">November 17, 2007<\/a><\/strong> when the pending permit notice went up on the Tamarack sign. Now, it looks like it will proceed, as the Coastal Commission staff is recommending approval.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Staff is recommending approval of the project with various special conditions.   . . Special conditions include the requirement for a monitoring program to document any impacts to public access, or the development of additional public trails down the coastal bluff. A further special condition has been recommended to approve the parking fees on a trial three year basis.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Obviously, we believe this is a terrible idea for several reasons, most importantly being that it is going to simply push all the people up into <em>Carlsbadistan<\/em>. When parking on the streets is free and it costs $8.00 to park at the beach, where are people going to park? That&#8217;s right: in our neighborhood.
