{"id":2320,"date":"2008-04-10T09:05:12","date_gmt":"2008-04-10T16:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=2320"},"modified":"2008-04-10T09:05:25","modified_gmt":"2008-04-10T16:05:25","slug":"water-quality-board-gives-desal-a-kinda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=2320","title":{"rendered":"Water Quality Board Gives Desal A Kinda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.signonsandiego.com\/news\/northcounty\/20080410-9999-1mc10desal.html\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Union-Tribune<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swrcb.ca.gov\/rwqcb9\/\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board<\/a><\/strong> has &#8220;approved an environmental protection plan for the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?s=desalination+plant\" target=\"_blank\">desalination plant<\/a><\/strong>,&#8221; by a vote of 5-2.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The board voted 5-2 yesterday to approve Poseidon&#8217;s first draft of its proposed plan but required it to return in six months with more detail on the number of fish killed, its method to minimize those deaths and how it plans to make up for them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It appears that the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastal.ca.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">California Coastal Commission<\/a><\/strong> is not exactly happy with this vote.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The coastal commission&#8217;s executive director, Peter Douglas, had asked the regional water board to delay a decision, saying Poseidon&#8217;s plan &#8220;would create a real or perceived conflict between the Board&#8217;s action and the requirements imposed by the Commission.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>[Link: <\/strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.signonsandiego.com\/news\/northcounty\/20080410-9999-1mc10desal.html\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Union-Tribune<\/a><\/strong><strong>]<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to a story in the San Diego Union-Tribune the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board has &#8220;approved an environmental protection plan for the desalination plant,&#8221; by a vote of 5-2.
