{"id":3626,"date":"2008-11-10T08:46:40","date_gmt":"2008-11-10T16:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=3626"},"modified":"2008-11-10T08:46:48","modified_gmt":"2008-11-10T16:46:48","slug":"encinitas-wins-out-on-la-costa-ave-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=3626","title":{"rendered":"Encinitas Wins Out On La Costa Ave. Upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A settlement has been reached in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=1746\" target=\"_blank\">the lawsuit<\/a><\/strong> that the City of Encinitas brought against the City of Carlsbad regarding the costs of upgrading La Costa Avenue, according to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountytimes.com\/articles\/2008\/11\/10\/news\/coastal\/encinitas\/z510e24671414b538882574fa006324b0.txt\" target=\"_blank\">North County Times<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Originally, the City of Carlsbad said they would pay nothing and that the developer of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?s=%22Ponto+Vision+Plan%22\" target=\"_blank\">Ponto Vision Plan<\/a><\/strong> would pay for 27 percent of the estimated $5.34 million the upgrades would cost. <\/p>\n<p>Now the costs have been raised to $7 million and the two cities have agreed to split the costs evenly.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Encinitas Councilman <strong>James Bond<\/strong> said this week that he is pleased a deal was reached. . . .&#8221;Hopefully it is in fact settled and we have all signed off and walking away with a good agreement,&#8221; said Bond, who was elected Tuesday to his fifth term on the council. &#8220;For sure, it was a compromise agreement, but it was a lot better than they (Carlsbad) initially offered.
