{"id":4111,"date":"2008-12-24T10:24:48","date_gmt":"2008-12-24T18:24:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=4111"},"modified":"2008-12-24T11:55:43","modified_gmt":"2008-12-24T19:55:43","slug":"westfield-files-lawsuit-against-oceanside","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=4111","title":{"rendered":"Westfield Files Lawsuit Against Oceanside"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A while ago we mentioned the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=3508\" target=\"_blank\">ridiculous lengths<\/a><\/strong> to which <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/westfield.com\/uscentres\/?redirect=no\" target=\"_blank\">Westfield<\/a><\/strong> (the Australia-based owners <em>Carlsbadistan&#8217;s<\/em> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/westfield.com\/plazacaminoreal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Plaza Camino Real<\/a><\/strong>) would go to stop the construction of a competitor&#8217;s mall in Oceanside.<\/p>\n<p>Now, they&#8217;ve gone even farther. Westfield is suing the City of Oceanside (22-pages long) claiming that the City Council did not properly review the environmental impacts of developer <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomasent.com\/home\/home.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Enterprises<\/a><\/strong>&#8216; planned <strong>Pavillion<\/strong> mall on Highway 76, according to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nctimes.com\/articles\/2008\/12\/23\/news\/coastal\/oceanside\/z0a185aae51101a738825752800620d10.txt\" target=\"_blank\">North County Times<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[Westfield] says its tenants, patrons and employees could be affected if the Pavilion alters air quality, noise or traffic. . . . The lawsuit claims that Oceanside made numerous errors in its analysis of the project, such as underestimating its possibly harmful effects on traffic, air quality, noise, water quality and air traffic.
