{"id":773,"date":"2007-08-11T11:15:01","date_gmt":"2007-08-11T18:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=773"},"modified":"2007-08-11T11:15:04","modified_gmt":"2007-08-11T18:15:04","slug":"coastal-commission-thumbs-up-desal-application","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=773","title":{"rendered":"Coastal Commission Thumbs Up Desal Application"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastnewsgroup.com\/articles\/3184\/\" target=\"_blank\">Coast News<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the <strong>California Coastal Commission<\/strong> has approved <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.poseidonresources.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Poseidon Resources<\/a><\/strong> fifth application for its planned <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbad-desal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">desalination plant<\/a><\/strong> in the lagoon next to the <strong>Encina Power Plant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This is precisely what we&#8217;ve been hoping to accomplish, to get to a point when we could get a hearing,&#8221; said Peter MacLaggan, senior vice president for Poseidon. &#8220;It&#8217;s an important milestone, but it&#8217;s just a procedural step. We need to focus on preparing for the hearing.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The approval is not for the plant itself, but for an application to present a plan to the Coastal Commission in mid November 2007.
