Mudaliar won $15,000 for her research on youth onset diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was concerned by the increasing prevalence of diabetes and its complications in children and adolescents, especially among Asian Indians,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I was determined to further study this issue in the greater context of public health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anisha was one of 60 regional finalists from 21 states who were invited to present their projects.
