Upper Deck declined to disclose its post-layoff employment numbers, but said early this year that it had 250 employees. . . The layoffs come amid a series of business and legal setbacks for Upper Deck during the past year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The company has had several legal issues regarding licensing rights to products it has been selling. Namely with being accused of counterfeiting <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=7307\" target=\"_blank\">Yu-Gi-Oh<\/a><\/strong> cards and selling cards featuring <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=7434\" target=\"_blank\">Major League Baseball<\/a><\/strong> players that the company was reportedly no longer licensed to show.
