\"Bocce<\/a>San Marcos artist Greg Evans<\/a><\/strong>, creator of the nationally syndicated Luann<\/a><\/strong> comic, has created the signature artwork for the Vigilucci\u2019s Beach Bocce Ball World Championship XXX<\/a><\/strong> benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Evans, a long time supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs, was the recipient of the 2003 Reuben Award as Cartoonist of the Year. He has also written two musicals \u2013 Luann: Scenes from a Teen\u2019s Life (2008) and Wrinkles (2010). His artwork for the tournament features Luann, the lead character in his 25 year old cartoon, and her beloved dog Puddles. . . Posters showcasing Bocce Luann will be placed throughout the North County coastal area, and have become quite the collector\u2019s item. Autographed posters will be available for purchase at the event or by contacting Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nNATIONALLY SYNDICATED CARTOONIST DONATES ARTWORK FOR EVENT<\/p>\n

(Carlsbad, CA \u2013 May 20, 2010) San Marcos artist Greg Evans has created the signature art for Vigilucci\u2019s Beach Bocce Ball World Championship XXX, which benefits Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year, we select a different artist to come up with a unique piece for the championship,\u201d stated organizer Brian Cook. \u201cWe were absolutely thrilled that Greg Evans, creator of the nationally syndicated Luann cartoon, agreed to donate his time and talent. His \u2018Bocce Luann\u2019 will be the centerpiece of the poster, t-shirt, and other publicity items for the 30th anniversary of this fun event.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheduled to be held July 17 at Dog Beach in Del Mar, Vigilucci\u2019s Beach Bocce Ball World Championship expects to attract nearly 1000 players and spectators. This year\u2019s event sold out in record time, and is slated to raise more than $50,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.<\/p>\n
