\"Weller\"<\/a>On Thursday, August 26, 2010 Carlsbadistan’s Ivanffy-Uhler Gallery<\/a><\/strong> will be hosting an opening reception for artiest Susan Weller<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Weller\u2019s paintings are both reflections of her life spent near the ocean and of her travels in Europe. Weller lives and works in Laguna Beach and in Verona, Italy, in a 12th century palazzo, where she is inspired by the country\u2019s rich cultural and architectural history. Art critic Roberta Carasso, Ph.D., says, \u201cThe artist is drawn to generations of history embedded in the facades\u201d of ancient buildings. \u201cLayers of generational narratives, each with its own mystical essence, find their way into her art.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Carlsbad, CA, August 13, 2010 \u2013 Ivanffy-Uhler Gallery presents Journey, an exhibition of abstract paintings by noted international artist Susan Weller. Weller, who lives in Laguna Beach and in Verona, Italy, will be attending the show’s opening reception on Thursday, August 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The gallery has frequent and varied exhibitions of contemporary paintings, drawings and sculpture, and is located at 565 Grand Avenue, Carlsbad. Weller\u2019s work will remain on view through October 20.<\/p>\n

Italian art critic Vera Meneguzzo describes her art as \u201carchaeological containers of collective memory,\u201d while Jean S.M. Willette, Ph.D., says, \u201cFor Susan Weller, the painting is a place where peace is found, where a center can be created.\u201d Her work is \u201csilent and calm like some of the works by American masters of Abstract Expressionism that Susan Weller has so admired, Rothko above all,\u201d according to critic Camilla Bertoni.<\/p>\n
