\u201cHere at Reef, each employee is allotted up to five paid days off annually to volunteer at a charity of our choosing,\u201d explained Reef Marketing Coordinator Jackie Hall. \u201cWe zeroed in on the Boys & Girls Club. The option of building a haunted house as a volunteer activity is a little out of the norm, and it sounded like it would be a blast!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

(CARLSBAD, CA \u2013 November 4, 2014) The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad\u2019s Village Clubhouse was transformed into a truly scary haunted house just in time for Halloween, thanks in part to sweat equity provided courtesy of local company Reef.<\/p>\n

Halloween in the Carlsbad Village is always a special time, and this year was no exception! Thanks to the organizational skills of C3 (Carlsbad Causes for Community), an array of activities were offered for all ages and fright levels. Kids exited the haunted house into the Club gym, which was converted into a fun zone complete with a bounce house, face painting, complimentary pizza, and other fun activities. In addition, kids were able to trick or treat at local businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really cool to see everyone pull together to make this Halloween so special,\u201d said Village Clubhouse Director Andy Purviance. \u201cThe haunted house was built by Reef volunteers, Carlsbad High School teens worked as ghouls and witches and other scary characters inside the house, and our staff made it all come together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackie added, \u201cAfter our work was done, a few of us stayed after and got to actually play kick ball with the kids. It was so much fun, and we hope to make this project an annual one.\u201d<\/p>\n
