Pacific Coast Hoops youth basketball program had the pleasure of welcoming Randy Pfund to the gymnasium at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad\u2019s Bressi Ranch Clubhouse<\/strong> on March 11.<\/p>\n

Randy Pfund is a former NBA head coach and executive. He joined the league in 1985 as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers under Pat Riley and Mike Dunleavy, and was the team’s head coach during the 1992\u201393 and 1993\u201394 seasons. More recently, Mr. Pfund was the General Manager for the Miami Heat and was responsible for bringing Dwayne Wade to the franchise in 2003. . . .Coach Pfund spent two hours with the PCH players and coaches, sharing his wealth of experience having worked with some of the best players in the history of basketball \u2026. Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul\u2010Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, James Worthy, Dwayne Wade, etc.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

(Carlsbad, CA \u2013 March 17, 2015) Pacific Coast Hoops youth basketball program had the pleasure of welcoming Randy Pfund to the gymnasium at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad\u2019s Bressi Ranch Clubhouse on March 11.<\/p>\n

Randy Pfund is a former NBA head coach and executive. More recently, Mr. Pfund was the General Manager for the Miami Heat and was responsible for bringing Dwayne Wade to the franchise in 2003.<\/p>\n

Coach Pfund spent two hours with the PCH players and coaches, sharing his wealth of experience having worked with some of the best players in the history of basketball \u2026. Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul\u2010Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, James Worthy, Dwayne Wade, etc.<\/p>\n

After assisting in a 1\u2010hour skills workout, Coach Pfund expressed his admiration for the PCH players\u2019
\nability and attitude while also offering constructive criticism to move their game to a higher level.
\nThe former Lakers coach and Heat executive also encouraged the PCH players to strive not to be the
\nMVP but rather to be the best team player. He explained how every coach wants team players, players who lead by example in their practice and play, players who bring out the best in their teammates. There is no doubt that Randy Pfund\u2019s visit to PCH Carlsbad was an inspiration to these budding young players.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just amazing,\u201d said 9\u2010year\u2010old Connor Stevens. \u201cI can\u2019t believe that he coached so many of my basketball heroes like Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul\u2010Jabbar \u2026 and while we were practicing he actually said \u2018good job\u2019 to me \u2026. twice!\u201d<\/p>\n
