We totally agree (not only because its part of our logo).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI like it, and I think it\u2019s crazy to get rid of it,\u201d said Jim Strickland, a retired Navy veteran and 19-year Carlsbad resident who has long admired the distinctive column.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We also agree with&nbsp;<strong>Susan Gutierrez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s an iconic, visible symbol of Carlsbad,\u201d said Gutierrez, president of the Carlsbad Historical Society. . .&nbsp;\u201cAs a resident, when I see the power plant stack from anywhere on the coast, I know I am in Carlsbad, and home,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Exactly.
