Since its inception, the event has nearly tripled in attendance and raised nearly $400,000. . .&nbsp;\u201cThere were 15 poker tables and close to 150 players,\u201d said Tournament Director <strong>Rob Holzman<\/strong>. \u201cIn the end, it\u2019s the kids who win. Over $41,000 in net proceeds was raised for the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Carlsbad!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For the official word, please follow the jump.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>CARDS FOR A CAUSE<\/p>\n<p>(November 22, 2021) The La Costa 35 Athletic Club, a local nonprofit organization, hosted its 10th Annual Texas Hold \u2018Em Poker Tournament on November 13, benefiting the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.<\/p>\n<p>The LC35 Athletic Club was formed in 1984 to promote friendly competition, good sportsmanship, and a social outlet for its members \u2013 Carlsbad residents aged 35 and older.<\/p>\n<p>Begun in 2011 as a way to give back to the community, the first poker tournament was held at the then under construction Bressi Ranch Boys &amp; Girls Clubhouse. Since its inception, the event has nearly tripled in attendance and raised nearly $400,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were 15 poker tables and close to 150 players,\u201d said Tournament Director Rob Holzman. \u201cIn the end, it\u2019s the kids who win. Over $41,000 in net proceeds was raised for the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Carlsbad!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gold Sponsor of the event was Jim Morrison Insurance Services.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the atmosphere was catering from Gregorio\u2019s Restaurant, Baja Jerky and BJ\u2019s Restaurant, a generous donation by HRE Performance Wheels for a full set of custom wheels which was auctioned off to the highest bidder, and large screen TVs broadcasting the blinds as well as football games, courtesy of Home AV-TV &amp; Design.<\/p>\n<p>With play going on well into the night, Scott McGhee was awarded the coveted Winners Bracelet and selected a week\u2019s stay in Maui as his prize. Jamie Stout was the runner-up.<\/p>\n<p>Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Carlsbad has played an integral role in the Carlsbad community since 1952, providing programs and services to thousands of young people.
