The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad (BGCC) successfully hosted its 3rd Annual Pickleball \u201cDink & Drink\u201d Fundraiser on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Pickleball Republic (South), netting over $17,000 to directly support local youth programs. These crucial funds ensure area children continue to have a safe, enriching environment to learn, play, and grow. <\/p>\n

\nAfter two highly successful years in Vista, The Club brought its flagship community event to Carlsbad this year, utilizing the brand-new Pickleball Republic (South). This year\u2019s move to Carlsbad was a special homecoming for the event, which was hosted in collaboration with the facility’s owner and general manager, Shawn Walker. As a Carlsbad native who attended BGCC camps in his youth and whose son later participated in BGCC Youth Sports, Walker shares a deep, personal connection to The Club’s mission of empowering local youth.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Boys and Girls Club has made a significant impact in my life; from participating in after school programs in my youth to my kids now participating in similar programs 30 years later,\u201d says Walker. I\u2019m thankful and honored that it\u2019s my turn to help make magic happen for the next generation of kids. Pickleball Republic is built on many of the same principles that have made Boys and Girls Club so great. Most importantly a welcoming community that is for everyone. Pickleball Republic is truly a Place for all Players.\u201d <\/p>\n
The tournament featured 70 competitive teams squaring off in Men\u2019s, Women\u2019s, and Mixed Doubles divisions. Due to incredible demand and a massive turnout, the competition was divided into two bracket levels: Premier and Classic, ensuring exciting and fair matches for players of all skill levels.<\/p>\n
Beyond the courts, the event offered a vibrant community atmosphere. Attendees and players enjoyed an incredible selection of food, craft drinks, and refreshments provided by a stellar lineup of local businesses. Food and bites were provided by Graze Craze, Pizza Port, Se\u00f1or Grubby\u2019s, and Luna Grill. Guests also enjoyed craft beer, wine, and spirits from CaliFino Tequila, Henebery Whiskey, Culver Beer Co., Brewery X, Karl Strauss, and Fuego Hard Ginger Beer, alongside refreshments from Pure Green, Peet\u2019s Coffee, and Drink Um.<\/p>\n
The competition culminated in crowning the champions of each division. In the Premier Division, top honors went to Mixed Team Second to Last! (Adam & Jill), Women\u2019s Team Two Dink Minimum (Daisy & Monica), and Men\u2019s Team CaliFino (Tim & Boris). The Classic Division champions included Mixed Team Average Joes (Moses & Claire), Women\u2019s Team Lob-Sters (Adele & Sue), and Men\u2019s Team Pickleball Til\u2019 You Fall (Tanner & Kobe).<\/p>\n
Proceeds from the event went directly toward funding enriching programs, camps, and youth sports at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad. <\/p>\n
Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad has played an integral role in the Carlsbad community since 1952, providing programs and services to thousands of young people.
