The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadca.gov\/chall\/chctbid.html\" target=\"_blank\">Carlsbad Tourism Business Improvement District<\/a><\/strong> is getting ready to sign off on a $350,000 ad campaign for the city of Carlsbad, according to a <strong>Barbara Henry<\/strong> story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountytimes.com\/articles\/2008\/11\/24\/news\/coastal\/carlsbad\/zc20c6ba49f5ab0318825750c000b2fa9.txt\" target=\"_blank\">North County Times<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>These are challenging times for the hotel industry and we do need to get going on a program,&#8221; said <strong>Bill Canepa<\/strong>, board member of the Carlsbad Tourism Business Improvement District, as he discussed the proposed publicity campaign at a board meeting Monday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apparently, a consulting company called <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mindgruve.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mindgruve<\/a><\/strong>, is going to create a &#8220;brand&#8221; identity for the city including a &#8220;new logo&#8221; and &#8220;some advertising, with a heavy emphasis on Internet Web site ad placement.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve got some ideas: what about changing the name of Carlsbad to <em>Carlsbadistan<\/em> and using the power station and seawall as the logo? How rad would that be?
