{"id":3957,"date":"2008-12-09T09:57:26","date_gmt":"2008-12-09T17:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=3957"},"modified":"2009-01-25T11:15:36","modified_gmt":"2009-01-25T19:15:36","slug":"city-done-with-powerplant-site-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/?p=3957","title":{"rendered":"City Done With Powerplant Site Search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Carlsbad has thrown in the towel on plans to help <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrgenergy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">NRG<\/a><\/strong> find a different location for their <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlsbadistan.com\/index.php?s=NRG\" target=\"_blank\">proposed powerplant<\/a><\/strong>, according to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.signonsandiego.com\/news\/northcounty\/20081209-9999-1m9energy.html\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Union-Tribune<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a letter to NRG Vice President <strong>Tim Hemig<\/strong>, Carlsbad municipal projects manager <strong>Joe Garuba<\/strong> wrote: \u201cCarlsbad believes that our coastline is a precious resource and it is not an appropriate location for industrial land uses.\u201d  . . . Without NRG&#8217;s cooperation, \u201cthe city recognizes that its individual efforts (to find an alternative site) are meaningless,\u201d Garuba added. . .
