Some stop at the lagoons for a brief respite on their journey, while others stay through spring. . .  \u201cThe North County lagoons are extremely important for birds on the Pacific Flyway,\u201d said <strong>Andy Mauro<\/strong>, past president of the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanelijo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"> San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy<\/a> and a lifelong birder. \u201cMany species rely on the coastal-wetlands habitat.
