Sundown on July 4th 2007

It was a classic Carlsbad 4th of July in The Neighborhood: overcast, then sunny. Cold, then hot. Parades, packed beaches, and streets with no parking. Around dusk four police cars rolled up to Dini’s sorting out a “misunderstanding between patrons,” while on the PCH a private label “custody transport” wagon cruised North then South praying for passengers.

Shortly after 8:30 PM the fire works at Legoland lit up the Southern sky while at Off-Shore Roger and Clarke entertained the sunset viewers with juggling fire and comedy. Hopefully, the evening won’t get too wild (a firecracker just set off a car alarm on Garfield), because remember: even though it feels like it, tomorrow is definitely not Sunday.
