Carlsbad High School’s David Arganda won the Western Surfing Association championships in the under-18 longboarding division last month and now, The San Diego Union-Tribune’s Matt Arnold has profiled the ripper in the newspaper.
Getting to know David is like earning a Ph.D. in surf-speak. Weather is not sunny but instead “trunkable,” or warm enough to surf in swim trunks. He almost exclusively watches movies that are about surfing, his favorite being “Another State of Mind.” . . David said his preparation for surfing involves listening to indie rock such as Vampire Weekend and flirting with high school girls.”
