The most amazing selection of over 60 beers served from casks in the traditional style! It’s a great way to get educated while having too much fun! . . $25 to get in which includes a commemorative glass and 8 taster tickets. Only $1 for each additional 4 ounce taste once you’re inside the festival! Tickets are only available at the door for this the day of the festival!

For those who think there is nothing better than drinking wine out of brown paper bag on State Street, Andy and Jen at The Wine Spot have the perfect solution with their April Fool’s Blind Flight.
This week, test your senses with a blind flight and try to win a free tasting. Masquerading as bottles of malt liquor in simple, brown paper bags, the wines we choose will exhibit typical characteristics of common varietals. Swirl it, sniff it, sip it, and take your best guess. After the dust settles, we will take the best guesses and the winners will be rewarded with a deep sense of pride… and a free tasting.
Drop by anytime this week for a little sip and swirl escape.

Hard to believe that it’s already been over a year since Matt Hensley transformed Squid Joe’s into Hensley’s Flying Elephant and created one of North County’s best live music venues (and drinking establishments).
On July 22, 2008 Hensley’s will be celebrating their one year anniversary all day with “free food, drink specials, promo girls, and live music.” Promo girls? We might have to check that out.

Koko Beach has been one of our long-time favorite late-night Carlsbadistan dining spots. There is nothing better than a Teriyaki Chicken (or Top Sirloin) dinner with a bowl of French Onion Soup, salad, and warm bread at 11:45 PM when you just don’t feel like anything else. And the lounge is a legendary secret spot for professional imbibers. That’s why we’re wondering what is up with the new windows. We can’t think of anything we do at Koko Beach that will be enhanced by more light, but then we’re sure it’s going to be better once we get used to it.
