On Friday, March 25, 2011 Carlsbadistan’s Museum of Making Music will present a documentary film The Wrecking Crew, by Denny Tedesco.
In the early to mid 1960s artists such as The Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Sonny & Cher, The Byrds, The Righteous Brothers, Nancy Sinatra, and the Fifth Dimension, topped the pop charts with songs like Up, Up and Away, Little Old Lady From Pasadena, Cherish, These Boots Are Made for Walking and Good Vibrations. . . It was known as the West Coast Sound, and the artists who sang these songs are household names, but the musicians who performed those hits were virtually unknown to the listening public and remain so today.
Check out the film Friday night and be enlighteded.

For the past 60 years nothing has marked the start of winter like a trip to the annual Warren Miller ski movie. On December 6, 2009 Warren Miller Entertainment’s newest film Dynasty will show at 4 and 7 PM at the Carlsbad Village Theatre.
Warren Miller’s Dynasty takes you on a breathtaking global tour of China, Alaska, Norway, Colorado, British Columbia, and more. Join legendary WME athlete Chris Anthony as he treks into China’s interior on a search for the birthplace of skiing; follow mountaineering marvel Chris Davenport to Norway’s highest peaks; reunite with the pride of the Midwestern ski community, Luke and Adam Schrab; and catch a rare glimpse at historic clips from Warren Miller Entertainment’s vault of vintage footage.
The fact that the real Warren Miller has nothing to do with these movies doesn’t seem to slow anyone down. It’s a brand and it’s a good time. Tickets for the show are $18 each and can be purchased at the box office or at the San Marcos Sport Chalet.
Carlsbad Village Theatre, 2822 State St.
