We’ll be going around the Village and planting beautiful spring flowers in pre-selected planter boxes that need some TLC! Apparently Adidas isn’t the only shoe giant sticking their feet into Carlsbadistan’s golf industry. Today Puma AG announced that they have purchased Carlsbadistan based Cobra Golf, according to a post on Businessweek.com.
Herzogenaurach-based Puma said Wednesday it will acquire 100 percent of Cobra Golf, but did not provide any financial details. The deal which faces regulatory approval is expected to close in the second quarter.
Last night, Friday, March 5, 2010 at approximately 9:45 PM Steven Anthony Kelley, 18, of Carlsbad was hit and killed by a car on El Camino Real near Cassia Road, according to a story on Fox 5 San Diego. The car did not stop
Carlsbad police officer on patrol at 9:45 p.m. Friday saw a man lying in the road at El Camino Real and Cassia Road. He thought a certain vehicle had just run over the man, so he stopped the driver and called for paramedics. . . .Accident investigators later determined that the victim had been struck first by some earlier, unknown motorist, police Lt. Jarlath Eppel said.

NBC San Diego investigates a possible cancer cluster in Carlsbad. But the North County Times says that California Health officials say there is nothing unusual about the number of cancer cases in Carlsbad.
Officials released that information Wednesday, after word spread that local parents are mounting a new campaign to get the state and the county to test soil, water and air conditions in some parts of the city. . . “Each (state) assessment concluded that there was no evidence of any usual pattern of cancers compared to the rest of San Diego County,” August wrote.
On Saturday, March 27, 2010 the Carlsbad Art Farm will be set up at The Flower Fields to help students learn how to make art live and on the spot.
Look for our booth where students can learn how to make pictures from die-cut paper leaves in the images of animals and birds. Once you get the idea, you can collect and press your own leaves to make fantastic creatures. . . We will also have information and registration materials for the 2010 Art Farm Summer Camp season beginning June 14 and continuing through mid-August. We will be raffling off a certificate worth $315 good for a one-week session during the 2010 Summer Camp season. Students must be entering grades 2 -8 next fall to attend camp.
