Boys & Girls Clubs Gala Raises $220,000

The annual “Come Play With Us” Gala held Saturday evening September 28, 2013 ended up raising a record $220,000 for the Carlsbad Boys & Girls Clubs, up 30 percent from last year.

“I am so proud of the fun, memorable evening we created,” said Chair Barbi Nelson. Co-Chair Viola Wheelihan added “Thanks to the talented members of the event committee, we were able to raise significant funds that will benefit our community’s children!”

For the official word from the Boys and Girls Clubs of(Carlsbad, CA – October 8, 2013) The martinis were chilled, the mood was celebratory, and a terrific time was had by the 500 guests who attended Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad’s “Come Play With Us” Gala. A record $220,000 was raised at the black tie event held at La Costa Resort and Spa’s Costa Del Sol Ballroom on September 28 – a 30% increase over the previous year.

The dynamic Wayne Foster Entertainment provided sensational sounds that kept the dance floor packed all night. Additional touches included a cup-stacking and singing performance by Club members, a candy bar, as well as a photo booth complete with dress-up props. The event was emceed by Kimberly Hunt, and honored Jim Minarik, CEO of DEI Holdings, Inc, and Chairman of the Board of Forte For Children Foundation.

Proceeds from the event go directly towards operating funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, which has played an integral role in the Carlsbad community since 1952.
