The Carlsbad High School Lancer Dancers plan on attending the Universal Dance Association’s National Championships in Orlando, Florida and to help them fund the trip the Dance Team Boosters are holding a golf tournament on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the El Camino Country Club in Oceanside, California.

[The tourney] will include the popular “Chopper Ball Drop” raffle event. Prior to tee-off, 1,000 golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter to a temporary golf hole. Each numbered golf ball is like a raffle ticket, carrying a chance to win $2,500. The first golf ball that goes into the hole or ends up closest to the hole will win the cash! . . . Chopper Ball Drop tickets may be purchased through the Dance Team Boosters and directly from the Lancer Dancers at a cost of $10 each. Winners need not be present, but must be 18 years of age or older to participate in the raffle.

The Dance Team Boosters are still looking for sponsors and donated items for the silent auction and raffle prizes. For more information follow the jump or Greg Crump at (760) 519-5844.Carlsbad High School’s Dance Team Boosters seek

CARLSBAD, CA — Carlsbad High School’s Dance Team Boosters are hosting their 10th annual golf tournament to raise the funds needed to send the Varsity Lancer Dancer team, to the Universal Dance Association’s (UDA) National Championships in Orlando, Florida.

This year’s tournament will take place Monday, Oct. 20 at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside and will include the popular “Chopper Ball Drop” raffle event.

Chopper Ball Drop tickets may be purchased through the Dance Team Boosters and directly from the Lancer Dancers at a cost of $10 each. Winners need not be present, but must be 18 years of age or older to participate in the raffle.

Golfers, Sponsors, and Raffle Items Needed by October 13th
The tournament is a best-ball scramble, with registration starting at 9:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at approximately 11:00 a.m. directly following the Chopper Ball Drop. The event also features a putting contest, “longest drive” and “closest to the pin” competitions for men and women. After the best-ball golf tournament, the fun will continue with a buffet dinner, raffle prizes, a silent auction, and special performances by the Varsity Lancer Dancer and Junior Varsity XCalibur Dance Teams.

According to tournament coordinator, Greg Crump, “we still need sponsors and donated items for our silent auction and raffle. We also have room for a few more golfers.”

Crump also stated, “Our sponsors have a great opportunity here to increase their own community exposure as well as serve the community by supporting a local high school team of elite dancers.”

Major sponsors will receive prominent signage at the tournament, acknowledgement on scorecards and golf carts, a commemorative plaque and link on the Lancer Dancer website.

Community Support is a Cornerstone to the Team’s Success
For the past several years, the golf tournament, private donations and other fundraising efforts have generated the funds needed to send the Lancer Dancers to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the UDA National Championships. In nine of the past 14 years, the CHS Lancer Dancers have brought home UDA National Championships in at least one of the two competition categories. The Lancer Dancers are the current National Champions in the United Spirit Awards’ (USA) hip-hop category.
