The winners of the 2008 City of Carlsbad Recreation Department’s Fourth Annual Battle of the Bands, The Funky Kicks will be playing a free show at the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium as part of the Rock The Library teen concert series at the Carlsbad City Library at 1775 Dove Lane tonight, April 17, 2008 at 7 PM

The Rock The Library Concert series plays each week through May 29.

Carlsbad City Library Presents Free Concert Series Featuring Teen Bands
April 17, May 1, May 15 and May 29

Carlsbad City Library presents its Rock the Library concert series, featuring teen performers The Funky Kicks on April 17, Gabriella on May 1, The Duree and One Hot Minute on May 15, and Breman Court on May 29. All concerts take place at 7pm. These award-winning teen bands will perform in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City Library, 1775 Dove Lane in southern Carlsbad. The Rock the Library concert series features teen bands who participated in the City of Carlsbad Recreation Department’s Fourth Annual Battle of the Bands held in January 2008. All concerts are fun for families and teens.

The Funky Kicks were the winner of the 2008 Battle of the Bands. This north county group performs a mix of alternative, funk and blues. They have played twice at the world famous Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/thefunkykicks.

Gabriella is an original pop/indie singer. She has performed locally on KUSI TV and one of her songs was “Pick of the Week” on the Homegrown Hour played on KPRI 102.1 FM. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/gabriellasongs.

The Duree and One Hot Minute are two spectacular alternative bands on one bill. The Duree are in the process of recording their second album, Sweetie Shoots.
