Carlsbad, CA – On Saturday, May 3, LEGOLAND® California hosts Celebrate Carlsbad Day where more than 500 talented youngsters from 11 Carlsbad schools will gather on the Funtown Stage to showcase their talents and raise money for The Carlsbad Educational Foundation/Kids Are Worth A Million annual telethon. Performances include a rendition of Elvis’ “All Shook Up” by third graders at Hope Elementary, an orchestra group from Carlsbad High School and a musical theatre number from “Grease” by Valley Middle School students. The telethon itself will be filmed by students from Emmy Award-winning Carlsbad High School Television (CHSTV).

Traditionally held at the Carlsbad High School Gym as a live call-in telethon, this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever – a giant “pep rally” for education. While still keeping the traditional student performances, donor recognition and local dignitary appearances, LEGOLAND California has catapulted the event to new heights with more revenue potential to benefit Carlsbad’s schools.

Tickets for Celebrate Carlsbad Day are $15 and include a full-day admission to LEGOLAND California, with the majority of the proceeds donated to the Carlsbad Educational Foundation. The Foundation has set a goal to raise $80,000 in pre-sale tickets for the day and opportunities for sponsors have also expanded.

“We are very grateful to LEGOLAND California. This premiere family venue has embraced our efforts to raise much needed funds for Carlsbad’s schools, to offset recent state budget cuts,” said Lisa Posard, the President-Elect of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation.

The Kids Are Worth A Million Telethon will be taped between 10:30 and 2:30 during Celebrate Carlsbad Day. The telethon will feature every school in Carlsbad Unified School District; principals will highlight excellent programs and teachers, and kids will have the chance to perform at a big venue before a live crowd on a real stage, while enjoying the Park with family and friends.

Carlsbad Educational Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has contributed over $3,000,000 to Carlsbad Unified School District classrooms for science, technology, arts and reading.

Tickets for Celebrate Carlsbad Day at LEGOLAND California are available for advance purchase only, through special ticket outlets at Carlsbad Unified School District schools, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, Mission Federal Credit Unions in Carlsbad, and at the Carlsbad Educational Foundation office.
