Man Attempts Suicide By Train

by The Editors on September 9, 2008

This afternoon a man in his “30s or 40s” apparently tried to throw himself under a Coaster train at the Carlsbad Village Station at approximately 3:40 PM on September 9, 2008, according to a story on Sign On San Diego.

It was an attempted suicide, it appears from witness accounts,” said Carlsbad Police Cpl. Rob Shelton. . . .“He contorted his body and he threw himself at the train,” said Chris Wood, who was standing on the platform about 100 feet away.

Firefighters were able to get him out from under the train and transport him to Scripps Memorial Hospital. This is the same location where Jeffrey Samora, 24, killed himself by jumping in front of an Amtrak train on Monday April 21, 2008.

Jumped in front of a train and survived? Hopefully this guy will get the message that it just isn’t his time to go!

Nothing like people jumping in front of trains to give the train drivers extra excuses to really ride their horns while passing through the village.
