Our favorite Carlsbadistan letter carrier Conrad Beck organized a a pretty big party at the Carlsbad Post Office today to celebrate that fact that today’s date (9-20-08) also happens to be our zip Code.

92008 AmWhile Mayor Bud Lewis did not make the festivities as promised, nearly 70 people along with the Carlsbad Lancer Cheerleaders, Miss Carlsbad Dana Ducommon, the Army & Navy Academy Atkinson Warrior Marching Band and some of Carlsbad’s most appreciated postal workers (and family) did.

Lorraine Ludowsky, Sheila Mata, Lola’s Connie Trejo, Michelle, Michael Januzzi (starting center for the CHS football team), Cathy Kardas, the Post Office’s most senior employee Mack Mata, the youngest carrier C.C. Vallejo, Mike Alston, and Sharra Kliebenstein helped Conrad count-down to the big event at 9:20:08 AM.

Then it was all silly string and music from the Army & Navy Academy Atkinson Warrior Marching Band, free cake, and for a dollar all the philatelists in the crowd could get a special commemorative postcard with a custom cancellation stamp.
