Carlsbad High School senior Austin Ganz, 17 (pictured above), and Lucas Johnson, 15, took first and second place against four San Dieguito Academy surfers in the mens’ shortboard division at the Interscholastic Surfing Federation contest at Moonlight Beach on Sunday, October 18, 2009.
The waves at Moonlight of 1 to 3 feet, and were on the small side, but Ganz powered through to the finals to get this year off to a great start. . . . Austin would like to thank his sponsors, K-Five, O’Neill, Dakine, Barr Design and Smith Optics.
