Carlsbad State Beach Services Cut

The California State Department of Parks and Recreations has finally released their list of services that they will no longer be able to provide thanks to State budget issues. Looks like we’re going to lose lifeguards, restrooms, and trash service:

  • South Carlsbad State Beach: Lifeguard service scaled back and fire rings removed.
  • Carlsbad State Beach: Reduction in lifeguards, restrooms and trash service.

We’re wondering what reductions in restroom service means? Every other flush works? Or they’re going to be cleaned half as well?

Anyone know when this is supposed to happen? Are they removing fire rings from the campsites or just the beach? I have reservations next week and the lack of a fire ring at the campsite could definitely decrease the fun.

Eeeewww…..does this means the porta-potties will be emptied even less often than they are now? I always have to hold my breath as I walk or run by them because of the stench — the stench will be even worse now.
Just what we needed….less lifeguards! They are almost nonexistent now!
Very sad about the fire rings being removed — they already were removed from warmwatter jetty. Kind of destroys the whole “feel” of the beach : /
