Boys & Girls Clubs Raise $85k With Golf

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad raised nearly $85,000 at its annual fundraising golf tournament held March 22, 2010 at the El Camino Country Club in Oceanside.

“The success of this tournament is a result of astounding contributions from so many individuals and companies throughout San Diego County,” said Randy Ferren of California Bank & Trust, Steering Committee Chair. “While the day presented so many winners, we are pleased that it’s the boys and girls that attend our Club that are the ultimate winners – and benefit from this generosity.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Scores Hole in One with
58th Annual Golf Classic Fundraiser

(CARLSBAD, Calif. – April 1, 2010) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad announced that the club raised nearly $85,000 at its annual fundraising golf tournament held March 22at the El Camino Country Club in Oceanside. All proceeds raised during the event directly support the Club’s programs and services, enriching the lives of young people.

TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company was honored for their decade of collaboration, as reflected in the tournament’s theme “Clubs for a Brighter Future.” Other major sponsors included Emerson Network Power, Cabrillo Power I LLC, California Bank & Trust, Waste Management, Dudek, Christian Credit Counselors, DJO Incorporated, TMAX Gear, and USAopoly.

Matching the sunny skies, the mood was bright as golfers enjoyed a multitude of events in addition to a great round of golf. Not only did they compete for the best score, but in various contests on the green that included Hole-in-One, Longest Drive, Inside the Circle, as well as a Putting Contest. Throughout the day golfers were treated to a buffet of food and drink provided by local restaurants and microbreweries, as well as music to keep the mood casual.

The day concluded with an awards dinner where all the day’s winners were recognized. Tournament winners were: 1st Place: Jenny Richards, Royce Parker, and Hugh Humphrey; 2nd Place: Pete Sanchez, Eric Woods, Will Meile, Josh Sullivan; and 3rd Place: Greg Nelson, Chad Nelson, Roger Kuske, and David Taylor.

Randy oversaw all activities of the tournament committee and was instrumental in filling the green with golfers, exceeding sponsorship expectations and securing highly prized auction items. Pete Sanchez, Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources at TaylorMade Golf Company, acted as honorary chairman of the event.

Joining Ferren and Sanchez in their creating and executing the successful event were the 2010 Golf Committee, which includes the following volunteers: Jerry Carter, Ryan Grant, Scott Grugel, Eddie Maldonado, Scott McCary, Linda Millen, Jim Morrison, Brendan Pagan, and Collin Sorensen.
