Cierra Halstead Named 2010 Youth of the Year

Carlsbad High junior Cierra Halstead was named The Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad’s 2010 Youth Of The Year at during a Super Star Dinner held at the Clubs’ village branch on Wednesday, January 26, 2011.

Currently a junior at Carlsbad High School, Cierra considers the Boys & Girls Club her second home. She’s a ten year Club veteran, and has participated in just about every activity that’s been offered. Currently she serves as the president of Keystone Club, the teen leadership program. “The Club has shaped me as a person and has been the support system I needed to push through the hard times of my life,” stated Cierra. “It has been a life changing experience, and I know I would not be where I am today without it.”

Cierra was presented with a $1250 educational scholarship. First runner up Corey Cummins and finalists Julianna and Faith also received scholarships, courtesy of the Blackburn Foundation and Ted Vallas. Congrats to Halstead and all the other honorees. Cierra Halstead Named 2010 Youth of the Year

Everyone knows Cierra Halstead, Corey Cummins, Julianna Garner, and Faith Waters are winners. Now it’s official! The four young people were selected as Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad’s Youth of the Year and Finalists respectively.

The Youth of the Year program recognizes superior leadership skills, academic achievement, obstacles overcome, and outstanding service to Boys & Girls Clubs and the community. As Overall Youth of the Year, Cierra was awarded a $1250 educational scholarship. First runner up Corey Cummins and finalists Julianna and Faith also received scholarships, courtesy of the Blackburn Foundation and Ted Vallas.

Recognition was given to all four members at Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad’s Super Star Dinner, held January 26 at their Village Branch.
