Carlsbadistan Street Faire November 1

by The Editors on October 14, 2009

Cbstreetf08 16Join 100,000 of your closest friends on Sunday November 1, 2009 as the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce hosts the 35th Annual fall Carlsbad Street Fair in the Village of Carlsbadistan. Browse through acres and acres of items from over 900 venders at “the nation’s largest one day faire.”

Find items that you can find at any other street faire in North America. Buy stuff that will make you wonder what you were thinking when you finally get it back into your home. But that’s not the fun of street faire. The fun is just mingling with your friends an neighbors on streets void of traffic.

“The faire is a social happening of major proportions. With almost more attendees than Carlsbad residents, the event nearly doubles the population of Carlsbad for one day,” said Ted Owen, president and chief executive officer of the Carlsbad Chamber. “Fun, food and great prices are the faire’s main ingredients.”

And we have to agree with Ted. We’ll see you there.

by The Editors on September 25, 2009

Carlsbadistan came out again last night for the now monthly Village art walk, Thursdays On The Coast. At Dr. Michael Jacobs’ office across from the post office we caught local Carlsbadistan surfer and musician Marklyn playing on the streets. He was one of over 30 local and regional artists displaying work in more than 40 venues including art galleries and shops acting as “phantom” galleries.

Sponsored by the Carlsbad Village Association, Thursdays on the Coast runs the last Thursday of the month from 5:30-8:30pm in the Village of Carlsbadistan. The next is scheduled for Friday, November 27. For additional information call the Carlsbad Village Association at 760-434-2553 or visit http://www.thursdaysonthecoast.com.

Photos From The Other Carlsbad

by The Editors on September 1, 2009

Carlsbad Czr

Photographer Mirko Herzner spent several days creating photographs of Carlsbadistan’s sister city, Carlsbad in the Cech Republic. We should mention that the architecture definitely has us beat, but we’ve got them when it comes to waves and fish tacos. Follow the link for the entire slide show. . .

Bryan Snyder Art Show Sat. Aug. 29

by The Editors on August 24, 2009

Snyder Art 2009

Not that anyone would have to go to Bryan Snyder’s gallery to see his art, as it seems to have been showing up all over Carlsbadistan for the past couple years, but for those who don’t get to see it as much as we do, Bryan has “created, organized, and promoted” his own show (catered by the makers of Carlsbadistan’s best fish tacos Senor Grubby’s) on Saturday August 29, 2009 at Snyder Art from 7 to 9 PM at 2695 State St, Carlsbad, CA.

For more information contact Snyder Art at 760/521-8713 or Snyderart2009.com

Each afternoon at the San Diego Zoo the vines come alive with dance performance called Vine To Vine. Here is a little bit of the oddly erotic performance, but it really is better in person.

Magic On The Coast

by The Editors on July 31, 2009

073009 11

The highlight of our evening on the streets of Carlsbadistan for the somewhat subdued launch of Thursdays On The Coast was a performance by Tonette The Magician in front of the Carlsbad Theater. Her best trick was making everyone walk away with a smile.

There is more music and art planned for tonight, so look for it if you’re in Carlsbadistan for the evening.
