Healthcare World Congress In Carlsbad

by The Editors on February 23, 2009

Hl09003 Banner

Techno-savvy health care industry workers are at the Carlsbadistan Sheraton today and tomorrow for the The World Health Care Congress 2nd Annual Leadership Summit on Consumer Connectivity. Kind of funny when we don’t even understand the title of the event. Maybe they can explain it to us?

The World Health Care Congress 2nd Annual Leadership Summit on Consumer Connectivity will convene leading health care executives to examine technology as a key enabler of system wide reform. Web-based technologies, including PHRs, physician/patient portals, social networks, and online decision support tools shift the power in health care to consumers and offer solutions to accelerate quality initiatives, increase access and help control escalating costs. This Summit will offer compelling strategies for providers, insurers and employers to revolutionize health care through the integration and adoption of eHealth applications and personal health management tools.

Nope, we’ve still go no clue. We will bet that Twenty-20 will be loaded with conventioneers late-night tonight with people who care. . .

Moog Collection At Museum of Making Music

by The Editors on February 4, 2009

MoogIt seems like a long way off right now, but we’re putting in on the calendar just to make sure we don’t miss it. The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbadistan will present the world’s first Bob Moog Retrospective beginning in September. The Moog was the original synthesizer that helped create modern music.

Here is what Moog’s daughter Michelle Moog-Koussa had to say about it.

The Museum of Making Music will be hosting the first ever Bob Moog Retrospective exhibit from September 2009-March 2010. A formal announcement about that exhibit is forthcoming. I spent much of the weekend in meetings with the MoMM’s excellent staff about this exhibit and came away feeling excited about our collaboration and delighted at the prospect of bringing my father’s archives out for people to explore. We’ve come a long way from the moldy workshop!!

Get The Drop On New Year’s Eve At Legoland

by The Editors on December 31, 2008

2009 Knye Brick DropTo be honest, we love kicking off the New Year properly, however, we’ve never liked staying up ’till midnight to do it. That’s why for the past couple years we’ve been going to Legoland where we can watch the “brick drop” at 6 PM and be home before all the guns start going off.

Here’s what’s going on tonight:

Like the famous Times Square party, Kids’ New Year’s Eve features a countdown followed by a huge LEGO® brick dropping 22-feet into 2009 along with a dazzling fireworks display over Miniland. The event also features a special performance by kids’ pop-rocker Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players.

The celebration begins at 3 PM today and is included with a regular admission.

From 7-9 AM on Saturday December 27, 2008 car fan boys are meeting up at the Carlsbad Premium Outlet Mall. We’re not sure what people do at these “meets,” but from the look of last month’s gathering there will be a parking lot full of pretty cool cars.

All cars are welcome: Exotics, European, Domestic, Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, Japanese Tuners and more.

Let’s hope it doesn’t rain.

Peter Pupping Christmas Concert

by The Editors on December 18, 2008

Pp05MedGuitarists Peter Pupping and Tim Holcombe along with the rest of the Peter Pupping Band will be playing a live Christmas concert on Saturday December 20, 2008 at the Carlsbad Village Theatre.

Peter is a multifaceted musician. He directed the MiraCosta College guitar program from fall of 1987 through spring of 1999. Today he frequently performs as a soloist and with various ensembles and leads the Peter Pupping Quartet on the GuitarSounds label. The quartet appears in concert regularly and performs classical & contemporary acoustic music including; world music (Spanish, Pop Flamenco, Brazilian Bossa Nova, Samba, Irish), light jazz and popular hits.

From the few riffs we’ve heard on this should be an amazing show (if it’s not already sold out).

The Peter Pupping Band, 8 PM, December 20, 2008, Carlsbad Village Theatre, 2822 State Street
