Boar's Crossin Gives BackFor the past 11 years Boar’s Crossing owner Ralph Burnette has held a Fish Fry Fundraiser in August to help raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad. Over the years he has donated more than $100,000 to the clubs.

The event brings the community together on a summer afternoon to support the Club while enjoying excellent fish tacos. Raising at least $10,000 annually, much of the donation comes straight from Ralph’s coffers – with more than $100,000 being donated to the Club over the years. . . “What I enjoy most is taking the money to the Club staff, and going on a shopping spree with them,” said Burnette. “They make a list, and get items that are needed but not in their budget. This year’s items included a flat screen in the lobby used for announcements, plenty of sports equipment, and even a computer.”

FISH FRY AT BOAR’S CROSSIN’ HELPS LOCAL KIDS

(Carlsbad, CA – November 2, 2015) Long-standing Carlsbad business owner Ralph Burnette is all about giving back.

“Some time ago, I was approached by a Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad board member named Richard Macgurn to help out our local kids,” recalls Ralph. “We came up with a Fish Fry fundraiser, which has taken place on a Friday in August at the Boar’s Crossin’ for the past 11 years.”

The event brings the community together on a summer afternoon to support the Club while enjoying excellent fish tacos. Raising at least $10,000 annually, much of the donation comes straight from Ralph’s coffers – with more than $100,000 being donated to the Club over the years.

“What I enjoy most is taking the money to the Club staff, and going on a shopping spree with them,” said Burnette. “They make a list, and get items that are needed but not in their budget. This year’s items included a flat screen in the lobby used for announcements, plenty of sports equipment, and even a computer.”

“Mr. Burnette is like Santa Claus,” enthused Program Director Brooke Price. “He makes us come up with a wish list and then just takes care of everything – it’s amazing! We are so grateful for his generosity.”

This year’s cooking team included Brian Joyce, Tom Koutan, Kristin Paddock, Charles Piccirillo, and Rudy Soto. The serving team included Cindy Chandler, Vincentia Faddis, Elizabeth Macgurn, and Karen Soloman.
