Army & Navy Settles Hazing Lawsuit

by The Editors on August 4, 2010

Carlsbad’s Army & Navy Academy and a former student who accused the school of not protecting him against a group of students who allegedly “beat him and sodomized him with a broomstick” have settled, according to a story in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Vince Finaldi of Orange County, confirmed Wednesday that the suit was resolved about two weeks ago but declined to discuss any details, citing a confidentiality agreement between the parties. . . The academy’s president, retired Army Gen. Stephen Bliss, also confirmed that the lawsuit had settled but declined to provide additional information.

Two other lawsuits against the school for similar issues are still pending.
