It seems like a long way off right now, but we’re putting in on the calendar just to make sure we don’t miss it. The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbadistan will present the world’s first Bob Moog Retrospective beginning in September. The Moog was the original synthesizer that helped create modern music.
Here is what Moog’s daughter Michelle Moog-Koussa had to say about it.
The Museum of Making Music will be hosting the first ever Bob Moog Retrospective exhibit from September 2009-March 2010. A formal announcement about that exhibit is forthcoming. I spent much of the weekend in meetings with the MoMM’s excellent staff about this exhibit and came away feeling excited about our collaboration and delighted at the prospect of bringing my father’s archives out for people to explore. We’ve come a long way from the moldy workshop!!

This morning a seal washed up on the beach at Tamarack. At about 9:30 the lifeguards arrived and put a couple signs up to give the animal some space. When we checked in at 10:45 AM the seal was still breathing, but didn’t look very healthy. It is obviously a big news day around these parts. . .

The Surfrider Foundation, fresh off defeating the Trestles Toll Road, continues to battle the proposed Poseidon Resources Inc. desalination plant on our Agua Hedionda Lagoon, according to a post on their blog.
The contentious plan to build a massive ocean desalination on the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad, California has been challenged in court. Surfrider Foundation, as lead plaintiff, claims approval by the Coastal Commission to build the largest ocean desalination facility in the western hemisphere violates California law because it was not designed or located to avoid the unnecessary destruction of marine life.
We fully support and back the Surfrider Foundation in this mission.

Former Carlsbad Mayor and state Assemblyman Robert Frazee has died of an apparent heart attack while on a South Pacific cruise with his wife he was 80 years old, according to a story on 10news.com.
He was first elected to the Carlsbad City Council in 1972, before becoming the North County city’s mayor in 1974. In 1978, he was elected to the state Assembly, where he represented North County and part of Orange County until his retirement in 1994.
According to the North County Times “At 80, Bob Frazee was a North County institution, a designation few would dispute given his nearly three decades of accomplishments in public service at the city, regional and statewide levels.”
Carlsbadistan’s beach from Pine Street to Tamarack was named after Frazee. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

We’re guessing this is news to no one with cable TV, but we’re going to link it up just for history sake: Carlsbadistan’s flying tomato resident Shaun White won all the snowboard events at the 13th Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado this weekend. By doing that he now has the most gold medals in X Games history and became the first snowboarder to win back-to-back halfpipe gold.
Congrats, Shaun. Slopestyle vidoe after the jump.
