Calavera Hills Community Park finally gets its turn to host the City of Carlsbad’s TGIF Concerts in the Parks as San Diego’s own cover dance band Liquid Blue whips things up at the top of Tamarack on Friday evening (August 14, 2015).
This San Diego based international act features Grammy winning musicians, a Billboard hit songwriter and a Chinese Idol finalist. This band performs the best in top pop dance hits and was a favorite with TGIF fans in 2014.
Yeah, so bring the kids and let them dance it all away. Calavera Hills Community Park is located at 2997 Glasgow Drive, Carlsbad, California. If you don’t want to hassle with parking leave the car at Sage Creek High School and ride a shuttle. Shuttle service operates between 4:30 and 9 PM.
Get ready to feel the Afro-cuban beat and begin to move your feet as Louie Cruz Beltran returns to Carlsbad with his Latin/salsa rhythms to the City of Carlsbad’s TGIF Concert in the Parks on Friday evening (August 7, 2015) at Poinsettia Community Park.
Blending Afro Cuban rhythms with Jazz, Latin Jazz, Pop and R&B influences, Louie Cruz Beltran is an entertainer at heart – an entertainer who is also a superbly skilled conguero, timbalero and vocalist. In short, Louie is the complete package. . . Louie’s many loyal fans agree, making him a popular attraction at venues from intimate Jazz clubs to the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl. Variety called Louie’s Playboy Jazz Festival performance “… a triump… a sharp, uncluttered Jazz ensemble.”
Beltran delivered one of the best shows of last summer. Ask someone who was there. They’ll tell you that you definitely should not miss this one. Show starts at 6 PM. Poinsettia Community Park is located at 6600 Hidden Valley Road, in Carlsbad, California. And remember to make parking easier, park at North Coast Calvary Chapel and get a ride to the park in a shuttle.
After years of playing guitar-driven blues and R&B backed by a tight horn section, Castro introduced The Painkillers live in 2012, creating a lean, mean four-piece lineup, with the drum chair now held by David Tucker. Fueled by Tommy’s voice and guitar plus bass, drums and keyboards, the band released the 45rpm single Greedy / That’s All I Got later that year (both songs are included as bonus tracks on the new CD). Greedy quickly became one of Castro’s most-requested songs. The Chicago Sun-Times calls his music “fiery and soul-drenched.”
Ghanaian international music star Rocky Dawuni’s dance-inducing mix of reggae, soul and traditional African sounds is gaining popularity across the country. He’s worked alongside artists such as Peter Gabriel,Stevie Wonder and Jason Mraz.
Show begins at 6 PM. Bring a chair, a smile, and and something to share with your neighbors. Poinsettia Community Park is located at 6600 Hidden Valley Road, in Carlsbad, California. And remember make parking easy and park at North Coast Calvary Chapel and get a ride to the park in a shuttle.
They may be called The Detroit Underground, but they’re from right here in San Diego Country. That doesn’t mean they don’t have a solid and funky rhythm section and powerful lead vocalists that crank out tunes from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Chaka Kahn, and Earth, Wind and Fire. And they’ll be doing exactly that this Friday evening (July 17, 2015) in Alga Norte Community Park as TGIF Concert In The Park takes over.
The Detroit Underground was established in 1994, and still has several of its original members. Over the years the band has earned the reputation for being a hard working, high energy, show band. The group features a very solid and funky rhythm section. These four seasoned players provide a solid foundation for the band’s “smokin” horns.
Remember to bring low-back chairs, snacks, and a groove ready mind. Show starts at 6 PM Alga Norte Park is located at 6565 Alicante Road, Carlsbad, California. And remember, shuttle service operates from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at Ocean Collection and Arrowhead Insurance Group properties (2500 Campbell Place).

The Man in Black may no longer be with us, but his music is still rocking thanks in part to tribute bands like Cash’d Out. They’ll be rocking the City of Carlsbad’s TGIF Concert in the Park series this Friday, July 10, 2015. If you’ve ever enjoyed a Johnny Cash song (and who hasn’t) then you’ve got to walk the line to Alga Norte Community Park listen.
Well, beyond critics having anointed Cash’d Out (Douglas Benson on vocals, Kevin Manuel on guitar, Stephen Rey on bass and George Bernardo on drums) the “next best thing to Johnny Cash,” and the group having won six San Diego Music Awards for Best Tribute Band, the real proof lies in what members of Cash’s inner circle have said. . . “Cindy Cash came to a show, we made her cry and she gave me a necklace with Johnny’s hair in a glass locket,” explains front man and Cash impersonator Douglas Benson. Benson added that Cash producer Lou Robin has also been to several Cash’d Out shows, and claimed that if he closed it eyes it was like “going back in time.”
TGIF Concert in the Park begins at 6 PM. Be sure to arrive early because parking can be a problem. Alga Norte Park is located at 6565 Alicante Road, Carlsbad, California. And remember, shuttle service operates from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at Ocean Collection and Arrowhead Insurance Group properties (2500 Campbell Place).
Get ready for some jazzy soul as Quinn Deveaux brings his Blues Beat Review to Stagecoach Community Park this Friday evening (July 3, 2015) at stop two of the City of Carlsbad’s TGIF Concert In The Park series beginning at 6 PM.
The modern soul songs of Quinn Deveaux, sung in his sweet tenor over a spare guitar or carried by his band’s bright tones, evoke old images aplenty—from those gutbucket barrooms where rock-n-roll was born, to the pine-walled shacks, nearby, where its gospel-forebears rent their souls. But this artist’s singular sound, making old tones new, is Quinn’s alone. His acclaimed Blue Beat Review has been thrilling San Francisco’s lovers of rollicking early R&B, and a good time, for years.
Bring a chair, a drink, and your dancing shoes because Mr. Deveaux is going to soul you right on to your feet. Stagecoach Community Park is located at 3420 Camino de los Coches, Carlsbad, California. Music starts at 6 PM.
