Lego Lets The Media Tour Waterpark

by The Editors on April 29, 2010

Legowater Tower

Yesterday (April 28, 2010), Legoland California invited the media to don hard hats and go behind the scenes at the amusement park’s new $12 million Legoland Water Park. Scheduled to open on May 28, 2010, the new park will feature eight different wet rides and attractions.

“LEGO founder Ole Kirk Christiansen once said ‘no matter what we design, there are two toys that LEGO can never improve upon: the ball and water,” said Ronchetti during the hard hat tour. “Exactly one month from today, I believe LEGOLAND California is going to combine LEGO and water right here on the ground you’re standing on, on a scale that’s never been done before with the world’s first interactive LEGO themed Water Park!”

We may not have attended the Legoland Media Waterpark Tour, but we were very honored to be invited as media trips are the only time we can afford to get in the front gates.

Happy Easter, Carlsbadistan!

by The Editors on April 4, 2010

Click here for the entire EGGStravaganza photo gallery.

The City of Carlsbadistan’s Parks & Recreation Department’s 2010 EGGStravaganza Spring Festival was exactly that yesterday as more than 1,000 egg-hunting Easter Bunny fans converged on Poinsettia Park.

Kids were treated to easter egg hunts (for all ages), face painting, cup-cake decorating, gymnastic tumbling, and a seemingly limitless supply of bouncy bounce options. The lines on some of the bouncers were up to 20 minutes long. The longest wait, however, is for getting a photo taken with the Easter Bunny. That line was nearly an hour long at one point.

“We’ve waited in the line so long that we have to get our photo now,” said one mom while waiting for her photo to print. “We have too much time invested to leave.”

One father said he couldn’t believe the crowds. “Last year there was about a quarter of the number of people that are here today,” he said while looking out over the mob of kids. “It must be the weather. Last year it was pretty overcast and today it’s perfect.”

We would like to thank the Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department and all the volunteers for making the EGGStravaganza an amazingly fun day for everyone.

Eggstravganza Flyer 10

Wondering what you’re going to do to keep the busy all day on Easter weekend? The Carlsbad Parks & Rec department has that all figured out with the EGGStravaganza Spring Festival on Saturday, April 3, 10 AM to 1 PM at 6600 Hidden Valley Rd, Carlsbad.

Come celebrate the spring with music, fun games, arts and crafts and a Fun Zone with bounce houses, a giant slide, obstacle courses and a chance to “soak the bunny.” Collect eggs in the ongoing “Egg Scramble” activity between 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children race to collect assorted eggs on the baseball fields, grouped by age. This activity sends groups of approximately 20 children into the out field to collect as many eggs as they can.

With a start time of 10 AM that means you have an hour to roll by the Apple Store and pick up your iPad before rolling over the park. Perfect timing. Click the link for more details.
