On Friday, September 5, 2014 the Museum of Making Music present its popular Local Flavor Concert Series featuring the enchantingly ethereal music of Gayle Skidmore.
A born songwriter, San Diego Music Award winner for Best Singer/Songwriter (2013) Gayle Skidmore has written over 1700 songs since she began songwriting at the age of 8. Rather than choosing her calling, Skidmore’s natural ability and innate passion for music made her music career unavoidable. She continually processes her adventures, experiences, thoughts and emotions through this malleable medium, writing, playing and singing from the depths of her soul. It is evident from her heartfelt, unguarded performances that Skidmore’s goal is excellence in artistry and expression.
Tickets to this event are $10 for general seating, or $15 for premium seating and include a slice of pizza and beverage. Museum members receive a 10% discount on tickets. Food service for this begins at 6 PM. Music begins at 7 PM.
For tickets or information click here, or call the Museum’s event reservation line at (760) 304-5844.

On August 2-4, 2014 Carlsbad’s soccer retailer soccerloco is hosting the 34th Annual San Diego soccerloco Surf Cup. And yeah, it’s a pretty big deal.
The 2014 tournament will host over 400 college coaches and scouts. This is not only one of the most sought-after title accolades in youth soccer but it is also one of the largest, with over a hundred different clubs flying in and traveling to the beautifully polished Del Mar polo fields. One of the competing clubs at the event this year stems from Carlsbad’s very own community, the Carlsbad United FC. The most important aspect of this tournament is not necessarily about winning but it is more so about building teamwork skills and networking with some of the best within the local soccer community.
Soccerloco’s President Jon Lococo is proud to be associated with the event. “This event is a big part of the San Diego community culture and we are really looking forward to seeing all the clubs come out and play,” says Lococo.
